Located about 125 metres below the sea level, Danakil depression is located in the northern part of Afar region in Ethiopia. It was formed as the African and the Asian continents moved apart. It is a place where you find one of the only six active lava lakes in the world, with volcanoes bubbling around and creating beautiful scenes.

One headline on BBC’s story published in June 2016 says ‘This alien world is the hottest place on Earth’.

It is a place where your imagination will be stretched to its limits. You will truly feel that you are on an alien land, where everything seems so out of this world. You may think that this a commercial buzz, but if it helps, scientists recently went to Danakil depression to study ‘clues to alien life’ with the objective of searching for evidences that would help them better understand Mars.
